I offer you a poem prayer from my personal journal this week; intimate, but vulnerable in a way I feel strong inside of.
The genocides have not stopped, Palestinians do not have peace, climate change roils on, social structures break down, the birds sing, the friends and families gather, the sun warms cold skin. Beauty and devastation continue to hold hands as they shape our realities. What prayers and moments of stillness have you been using to remain grounded, present, and alive during this life ride of waves?
If you’re seeking some extra magic, holding, or re-grounding in intention, I feel happy to offer this for use. If some parts speak to you and others don’t, please edit to your needs.
For greatest resonance, I recommend taking this prayer to your nature space, reciting it out loud, and burning a fragrant piece of wood or leaf.
The vibrational waves of your vocal chords are just as real in their alchemical power as the vibrational waves of molecules so dense they form matter.
The fire of the wood helps open the veil.
The nature around you is the witness & intelligence.
hello sunflower petals as afternoon gold strikes.
i feel ashes scattered to the winds, frazzled
& forgotten.
that is okay, but
i want to remember now.
i want to come back to the low, beating hum
at the core that emanates outward in
rhythm ripples
touching tributaries we cannot see.
i want to know how to get closer to the longing.
i want to get so close that i can taste, touch, and smell it so deeply
that i feel full & ripe with the blue of distance.
i want to know how to continuously
inch closer to the love for myself, for this life, for these struggles.
i love you, i love life
amidst the dismembered matrix,
even when only a single
dusty stream of light
trickles through.
i want support. i want help.
i seek ancestral & human & nonhuman guidance to feel the inter-everything, the listening, the connection, the belonging.
i ask for support as I seek
to see and be seen.
to understand and be understood.
to dive deep in velvet mystery & feel finally like I can breathe.
i pray to love my human body, my human life, and simultaneously
bathe in the mystery that monks dedicate themselves to
on the mountaintop.
hello sunflower petals as afternoon gold strikes.
i am here to feel your radiance,
& i feel scattered ashes to wind.
but i am still here.
i am still here.
i am here.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
P.S.
